TONGASOA! BIENVENUE! WELCOME!
My time volunteering in Africa led me to start up the JHA FUND, a non-profit NGO based in Antalaha, Madagascar, equipping youth for a future of possibilities by addressing barriers to education.
JHA FUND‘s objectives are:
~to create revenue-generating environmental projects by promoting community participation with reforestation, together with Macolline Botanical Trail
~to open doorways to basic education and health care at the “C.A.L.A.” leprosy villages and sponsoring children to go to school
~to promote access to employment opportunities, global engagement and higher schooling by teaching English as a foreign language to keen and motivated young adults
I invite you to add your email address to follow my blog.
Madagascar is one of the most beautiful places on our planet filled with rare and unique biodiversity.
It is also a nation with one of the highest rates of deforestation.
A wonderful country, with incredible flora and fauna, full of warmth and smiles, Madagascar is among one of the poorest populations in the world. Antalaha, a commune so deprived of medical care, a location where the threat and reality of leprosy still exists.
A friend, importer of Madagascar’s famous vanilla, had often talked about Antalaha and its lack of medical support and poverty. When he spoke of his efforts in supporting the leprosy communities, I had to experience it for myself. Since November 2013, I have been surrounded by wonderful locals, assisting in the villages, teaching English and promoting reforestation.
My work in Antalaha depends on those who believe in my vision and mission. Your contribution, whatever the amount, will make a difference.
Anything is considered generous in our world, so I encourage you to participate. Please refer to the DONATE menu at the top. Again, I thank you for your interest and the people of Antalaha are always thankful for your open heart.
For more information and details on my work, you can enjoy my stories, photos, blog and videos via the menus and links on this website.
There are many people who are eager to learn and improve their country’s situation, they just need opportunities. If you can help me to help them, then we’re all making a difference together.
My volunteer activities are carried out without regard for race, religion or political affiliation.
